The Ripple Effect of Missions

Image
Ever extending concentric circles describes Jesus’ last instructions to his disciples: Act 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."    There is an epicentre of commission that takes place in a believer’s heart. A moment when the droplet breaks through e surface tension sending a ripple outwards through the spirit, soul and body. When Jesus dropped this commission to his disciples just before He ascended, they were still wondering about earthly kingdoms and time frames. They needed a supernatural upgrade in their thinking and visual shift into the spiritual realm. Once they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, the wave began and hasn’t stopped travelling and rebounding from the corners of the earth.  A young boy went to visit a local township in South Africa once, and he listened to the preacher and enjoyed t...

Rippling Out It started as a droplet from the home schooling orbits. Chantal had found out about farm where they offered activities for kids ranging from horse rides and nature hikes, to soap making and picking roses. The Provencal styled Langkloof Roses is a picturesque moment captured in time, cascading down a kloof towards the historic town of Wellington.  The droplet became a ripple that extended out to Cape Town and we held our first Missions Auction there last year. We all loved the venue and the family and staff managing the venue. There was a divine connection. When two circling ripples interact there is constructive interference and an instantaneous doubling of amplitude and we realized that there was more to explore. When we were invited to participate in their recent festival that incorporated several ministries around the theme of being the light for Jesus, we decided to ripple out as a church. We held a blues concert with an art auction for missions. Immanuel Pel...

These waves at Jeffreys Bay, peel perfectly after travelling thousands of kilometres to bring joy to surfers who make the pilgrimage there annually. The groundswell that finally emerges as waves have their origins deep in the roaring forties of the ocean and from experience, we have found that the best swells often arrive a day or two after some hectic storm winds on the Eat Coast called the devil wind. You can't help that storms come in life, but be prepared for the ride of your life just after that storm. You will notice that many things you thought you can count on will be exposed to be built on sand, and the things that were built on rock remain. The bathymetry of JBay is reef, which means this wave breaks on solid rock! When the swell angles in with an offshore wind to clean it up, the results are pure bliss for surfers.  I took this photo on an epic surf trip with my brother and his surfer friend and we scored some amazing rides. Don't worry about storms - it is the co...

Ripples2Waves!

Ripples2Waves is an initiative that seeks to drop ideas into spheres of influence that will ripple out to affect a groundswell of change. The Ripple Effect Summit of 2021 has set in motion a growing orbit of influencers that come from diverse backgrounds and represent a cross section of society.  What we envision is to set up an online directory of organizations and businesses to turn ripples into powerful waves of positive change across cultures and economic constraints.  Become part of the Ripples2Waves initiative by contacting me ajepelser@gmail.com and describing your idea that will ripple out and help others.
