I Bought a Library Today

Image
Many years ago, I had a dream that I was in a beautiful library similar to the ones in England. I was walking with books in my hand, and there were shelves of books all around and people ascending and descending stairs. I spoke to our friends in the UK and told them about it and they said that old country estates could be bought and repurposed for such a venture. Today, I bought a library! Anemarie Wever contacted me last week and said that I should come quickly if I wanted to salvage books from the old Cape Theological Seminary library. She and her husband Tjutte, sell books online and have been trading in rare books for years. They had always shared wonderful literature with us as a family and a church, we have well stocked libraries at home already containing spiritual works and classic literature. My dad and mom never miss an opportunity to obtain valuable reading material, so I took them with me. When we arrived we drove around the facility that is preparing for demolition. A s...

Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd The last time I went to a town outside Cullinan, in Gauteng province, called Refilwe, we celebrated their inauguration of their church building. While I was there, I had a vision of a new addition of classrooms. I drew the picture and sent it to the senior pastor Maseko. We focussed on household church groups, youth ministry and children’s church. The Young Reformers Youth Ministry from Harvester reformational Church, Pretoria, taught us how to do the ‘Church Clap’ dance and it was quite a challenge for the church leaders to follow. After catching our breath, I had to start...

Rippling Out It started as a droplet from the home schooling orbits. Chantal had found out about farm where they offered activities for kids ranging from horse rides and nature hikes, to soap making and picking roses. The Provencal styled Langkloof Roses is a picturesque moment captured in time, cascading down a kloof towards the historic town of Wellington.  The droplet became a ripple that extended out to Cape Town and we held our first Missions Auction there last year. We all loved the venue and the family and staff managing the venue. There was a divine connection. When two circling ripples interact there is constructive interference and an instantaneous doubling of amplitude and we realized that there was more to explore. When we were invited to participate in their recent festival that incorporated several ministries around the theme of being the light for Jesus, we decided to ripple out as a church. We held a blues concert with an art auction for missions. Immanuel Pel...
